Like all National Occupational Standards, Local Land Charges and Property Information NOS are divided into units. Each unit describes a key part of someone's job, for example

LLCA   Maintain the statutory Local Land Charges Register
LLCE   Manage communications regarding the local land and property information service
LLCF   Provide information and assistance to individuals accessing the local land and property information service
LLCG   Carry out Searches of the Local Land Charges Register and respond to official local land and property enquiries
LLCH   Provide responses to official local land and property enquiries

Each unit has a brief introduction, saying what the unit is about, who it is designed for and how it relates to other units. This is the introduction to unit LLCF Provide information and assistance to individuals accessing the local land and property information service.

 

Introduction


Units are divided into performance standards that describe the activities the worker has to carry out. For example, the unit LLCF Provide information and assistance to individuals accessing the local land and property information service has two performance standards

LLCF2.1 Provide information to individuals accessing the local land and property information service

LLCF2.2 Provide assistance for individuals wishing to access public registers and records.

Each performance standard contains clear criteria that describe what effective workers do and the standard of performance they achieve. For example, in the performance standard, LLCF2.1 Provide information to individuals accessing the local land and property information service, there are six criteria describing what the worker needs to do.

 

Performance

 

The words highlighted in bold in the performance standards are further explained in a section entitled range. The range describes the possible variables in a given situation which might affect the way in which a member of staff carries out this function. Staff may need to be competent in working with the full range of variables, or just some of them.
